Lord Byron, both famous and notorious, spent years traveling Italy and Greece to complete a romantic Grand Tour. Being both a Lord and a poet, he was reputed to take a small writing desk on his travels; the better to be able to write his famous Don Juan drama, as well as a variety of love letters to local beauties. Our recreation of a charming French writing desk dating back to around 1800 was confirmed to be very similar to Byron’s own. Even without this exotic and extravagant reference, the desk itself surprises by its ease of use and esthetic appeal. The fold down desk-top nearly doubles workspace, and the various numbered drawers ease the tiring task of reference and organization.
