Forty-eight constellations were passed on from the ancients via Ptoolemy’s Almagest. In a time when astronomy and astrology were closely intertwined, new constellations were added only after the first Dutch voyages to the East Indies around 1600. Delightful and artistically drawn, these celestial charts were popular as wall décor even in the 17th and 18th C. Our set of six antique constellations are printed on high-grade, acid-free paper. The color has been hand applied in a classic, time-honored way.
